CFCM’s fishing ministry project known commonly as the “church at sea” was established to first, respond to the need to take the gospel message to millions of people who spend their man hours on the high seas along the coast of Ghana. Secondly, the project is to deliver these fishermen from economic bondage by boast owners. Many of these fishermen are poor and practice polygny believing that with many wives and children their economic needs will be met. What is more worrying is that the work fishermen do for boat owners can be described simply as economic slavery.
Over the years this practice has caused them poverty and deprivation. With the “church at sea” project, fishermen and their dependant have been given the right to govern, manage and sustain the project to improve their quality of life. Furthermore, fishermen are taught how to read and write. They are trained how to present Jesus by their ten fingers. They are trained to conduct worship services on the sea and plant churches along the coast of Ghana. Since its inception, the ‘church at sea’ project has helped improved quality of life of mamny many people. Households heads have become responsible, children are in school, more jobs created and souls saved for the Kingdom.
